The Creative Man: THE PRINCIPLE OF the FIRST MENTION part 2

continued from Part 1

The creative Man

So, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. But in v2 it tells us that the earth was without form and void full of darkness. Eugene H. Peterson added a little drama to it by saying the earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.

Well, the truth be told, God’s first attempt to create the earth didn’t turn out the way He really wanted so He went ahead to put things in order instead of giving up.

He brought in the lights, the water bodies, the birds, the animals, vegetation and finally His co-creators. This is where it gets interesting; by applying our principle of the first mention again we will find this: Genesis 1:26 KJV

And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over…all the earth…

In whose likeness? God.

What’s His likeness? He creates.

So, applying the principle of first mention about man, then man is a creator as well and with his ability to create he will have dominion over all the earth. Amazing!

This is one major trait of God that we have, passed on to us as our first makeup, more so according to the principle of first mention, it is one major characteristic that defines our ability. Our ability to create.

Creativity is a bye product of imagination. Creativity tends to follow what has been imagined. Or in other words, imagination precedes creativity, well better put; imagination gives birth to creativity.

Based on this thought I ceased to wonder why God will look at the lights He created and confirm that it is good. I think this is because His creations confirmed with His imaginations. Imaginations gives your creation purpose. This is why everything God created was designed to serve a purpose. When He saw that the earth was without form and void, filled with darkness and commotion, instantly He knew this was not His imagination.

If we are in the likeness of God, then what have you been doing with your imagination? If you cannot imagine then you will not create. Every effort to create without imagination is simply a copy. Imagination births originality.

It is sad to know today that we have not been creating, we have been copying and pasting. Unfortunately, this is not the man that God created in His likeness. The man God created is a creative man. It is true that there are certain environments that encourage imagination but this is not an excuse not to imagine and create.

V26…and let them have dominion over all the earth.

1john5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world.

What is born of God must be like God or better put; it will be in the likeness of God that creates.

We are called to dominate and overcome. It is surprising to know that the world is actually waiting for us to manifest our dominion and victory.

This dominion is not about heavy prayer language and rich religious rituals but it is in our awareness of who we really are-our likeness is of God. We are original and not a copy. We initiate what has never been existing.

When you are not creating you adapt and when you adapt, potentials get abused. You and I know that abuse breeds frustration. If I may, let me ask you: do you have an idea now the reasons behind your frustration?

Sin clouds our ability to create to begin thinking we can hide our identity behind our excuses but Jesus has come to take away that cloud like a veil torn in two so we can see who we really are. He does this by simply believing that He (Jesus) has taken care of the sin problem by dying for you on the cross and confessing Him as Lord even as God the creator has ordained Him to be. I am waiting to hear that you have done this.
